Micros

Screen mounted aluminum micro registration brackets allow direct placement of screens on the platen. They also make registration very simple.

Set of five is $32.00 plus S&H.

Screen with micros positioned on the platen.

Front micro is tightened a half turn to lock screen in place.

The carriage bolt heads contact the platens edge. Note the 1/8" off contact.

The micros attach directly to all four sides of an 18 X 20 wood screen with #10 wood screws. (Genuine McFeely's deep thread washer head wood screws are provided) Two micros attach at the rear, one at each side, and one in front (see other photos this page). Once attached, they allow you to precisely register the screen and then place it directly on the platen to make a print. A nickel is taped to each bottom corner of the screen to provide off contact. (See photos) Registration is done by adjusting the knobs to move the screen left to right, and front to back until the screen is lined up correctly over the art map. The carriage bolt heads contact the platens edge and the screen moves as the knobs are adjusted. Once you've got it registered perfectly, just lock down the jam nuts with a 7/16" wrench. The screen can now be placed directly on the platen to make a print and then be removed. It will go back on the platen in the exact same position every time. The front micro with the larger aluminum knob is tightened a half turn or so once the screen is on the platen to pull the screen forward snugly against the rear two micros.  This holds the screen firmly in place while the print is made. The screens are held by the screen rack when not on the platen. I call this a "rack and pick" system, and it's quite simple to use. Complete instructions are provided. Micros are sold in sets of five.

$32.00 plus S&H.

Note: Our micros are designed to work with standard size 18 X 20 inch wood screens on our presses which come standard with 15 X 17 inch platens. The individual components are designed to work together in coordination with each other as a system. We're starting to get a lot of people who are wanting to use our stuff on their different branded equipment with various platen and screen sizes. Obviously, some modifications are going to be in order. If you feel like you can modify our stuff to work with your equipment that is fine, but just keep in mind you'll have to figure out any necessary modifications on your own as virtually nothing on this website has enough profit built in to allow me to spend several hours doing the "engineering/figuring it out" part for you, lol. What it basically boils down to is your platen size is going to have to mesh with the inside dimension of your screen, and if you have an odd sized platen that you don't want to change then you're going to have to have someone like Pocono Mountain Screen Supply make custom sized screens for you that will work with your platen size. We are always flattered when someone wants to use our micro system, but the easiest way to use it is exactly as it was designed to be used - with 18 X 20 screens on a 15 X 17 platen. We sell top quality laminated
15 X 17 inch platens for a modest $20.00 if you need one.
